Why would you kill an innocent woman

I heard an actor say on a dram, "She didn't do anything to you! Why would you kill an innocent woman?" Is it a conditional sentence without "if"? If I complete it using "if", would it be like this?: Why would you kill an innocent woman if she didn't do anything to you?"
