Why "would" Natalie hang up on you?
Hi everyone.
In the TV show "How I Met Your Mother"
Ted calls his girlfriend Natalie to ask her out who he dumped three years ago.
Ted's friend: why would Natalie hang up on you?
I'm wondering why there's "would" in the sentence and what's its role in the context?
