Why this sentence is incorrect??
1. In addition to having more protein than wheat does, the protien in rice is higher quality than that in wheat, with more of amino acids essential to the human diet.

Why sentence 1 is not correct? And the correct one is sentence 2.

Because with the first phrase ('in addition to...does'), the noun referent is meant to be 'rice' (as in the 2nd sentence), not 'protein' (as in the 1st sentence): protein cannot 'have more protein'.
