Why the plural noun?

Hi. Please tell me why there are the phrases "by taking true measurements of it" and "the speeds of 65 miles per hour" in the following sentences when only one measurement would seem sufficient for finding out the height and the singular "the speed of 65 miles per hour" seems OK respectively.

1. You can confirm its height by taking true measurements of it.
2. It can reach the speeds of 65 miles per hour.

Top answer

1. You can confirm its height by taking true measurements of it . The height of a remote mountain might need several measurements from different sources to get an accurate value.
