Why some verbs don't use 'progressive verb'?

for example, 'understand, know, recognize, matter, possess, hear, sound, want, resemble, feel, appear, love, contain etc'

In grammar books, this verb don't used in the progressive verbs.

Verbs that don't denote action are unlikely to occur in progressive/continuous tenses. That's the only "rule" there is. People just don't use verbs like know in these tenses.
