Why present simple used for giving directions

"To get to the post office, you go straight on and then you turn left."
The present simple is used for giving directions because they are the same every time. they are permanent, not going to change. Please let me know If I am correct. I need your opinions. see here https://corkenglishcollege.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/she-says-or-shes-saying-when-to-use-present-simple-or-present-continuous/

The sentence is fine. "You" is optional. Most people would use this when giving verbal instructions.

"To get to the post office, go straight on for 2 miles and then turn left at Baker Street."
