Why Past Perfect?

Hello.

What's the reason to use PP here?

It must've been love

But it's over now.

It must've been good

But I lost it some how.

I must've been love

But it's over now.

From the moment we touched

Till the time had run out.

Isn't it that PP is used before the last action is completed?

Thanks.

  • But here, past perfect was used because the previous verse: " from the moment we touched", ( meaning the beginning), till the time had run out (meaning all the feelings, passions and love had subsided).
  • The lyrics were to reflect the sentiments of the person still attached to the extinguished love.
