Why omit ‘a’ or ‘the’ in some phrases in news articles?
I observe that the article ‘a’ or ‘the’ in many phrases is omitted in news articles. Take for example, the expression ‘Mr. Smith was guest speaker at the press conference...’ is more commonly used than ‘Mr. Smith was the/a guest speaker at the press conference...’ Why is it so?
