In the first sentence from the book Animal Farm why does it say `but was too drunk´and not `but HE was too drunk´. I know I have seen this before but I cannot explain it.
Mr. Jones, of the Manor Farm, had locked the hen-houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the pop-holes.
