Why not

Hello everyone,

Is the phrase "why not" correctly used in the following sentence?

- Why not a cup of tea?

Here as a way of making a suggestion, is it OK?

It could be.

— I'm going to have a cup of coffee.
— Why not a cup of tea? (Why aren't you going to have a cup of tea instead?)

I'm not sure that's the usage you want, however, because it's not a suggestion. It's just a normal quest
