Why no comma necessary/needed?

Hi.

Why no comma is needed (if it is indeed not needed)? Is the idea (is that an idea any way?) that the placement of a comma should allow a breathing space (room?) has something to do with the decision to put a comma or not in this type of situations (I think Clive have said something to that effect if I remember it correctly)?

In the circle in the top left-hand corner (a comma needed?) draw a flower and a sun in the top corner.

After two minutes (a comma necessary?) stop the activity and ask them some questions.

After two monthes (a comma needed?) he went home.

Common sense and a sense of rhythm help a lot in the use of commas in English. A comma does indeed "force" the reader to pause, and a pause helps group the right words and this in turn helps the reader understand the sentence. Tying the right words together is particularly important in English since there are hardly any inflections.
