Why "might" instead of "would"?

Sentence: If he plays his cards right, Tony might get a promotion.

Please tell me why "might" instead of "would"?

Might means that it is possible that he will get a promotion (maybe he will and maybe he will not). Would means that it is a certainty that he will get a promotion.
