Why live? Why not lived?

Unfortunately, I didn't get the job and I didn't go to Spain. I got a boring job and I live alone.

Why is here the first form of 'live' and not the second form i.e 'lived'? Does it have any grammatical reason? If yes, please explain.

These actions are done, finished, complete. They are expressed in the simple past tense.
I am still alive. My life is not finished. This is expressed in the simple present tens
