Why isn't it "They plays tennis every week."

Why isn't it "They plays tennis every week." You are talking in the third person, right? So, "Joe plays tennis every week" is correct.........so, why isn't "They plays tennis every week" correct? Thank you for helping me.

Because "they" is the third person plural. The verb takes the "s" only in the third person singular. I play you play he/she/it plays we play they play
