Why is this funny?

My English teacher gave us each a phrase and asked us to explain it next time.

She gave me

His face was drawn but the curtians were real.

So far I have found out:-

Drawn can be the past of draw. So something that is drawn is not real only q picture.
or it can be when someone is tired so a face can be drawn.
I have found to draw curtains but I am not sure if this is to open or to close them.?

Can you say me if I am missing something or is this it?

Siernan His face was drawn but the curtains were real. He was emaciated and his end was not far . That is the only explanation I can come up with unless, of course, additional context is provided.
