Why is playing with other kids deserving

Hi

Are the given sentences natural?

(A boy is beaten up by his father (on the football ground) because he was caught playing with the kids he was not supposed to mix with.)

(Boys asks crying)

  1. Why is playing with other kids deserving so many slaps?
  2. Why is playing with other kids deserving so much beating?

Not to my ear. At the very least you want 'does deserve' instead of 'is deserving':

Why does playing with other kids deserve so much beating?

('so many slaps' doesn't work.)

But I don't think a boy would say it that way. I think it would be more like this:

Why should I get a beating
