Why is it "The page you requested was not found." ?

"The page you requested was not found."

Why don't we use here the present perfect?
The page you have been requesting hasn't been found - would that be wrong? if yes, why past simple?

Thanks

louiST The page you have been requesting hasn't been found - would that be wrong? It looks okay to me if someone has tried to find a page several times over a long period of time, perhaps a few days. CB

Why only over a long period?
If I only tried one time, but I have just tried it. And it isn't working now, do we use Past Simple like it is?
But you actually want to go to this page but you can't, because the page hasn't been found.

Use the past tense if you tried to find the page just once unsuccessfully. Every language has its own ways to use tenses and applying logic based on one's native language is futile.
