Why is it like that?

Hi,

I think Mr. M said that the sentence by Aperisic "My children are my two happinesses" is a fine example.

I think I wrote a sentence something like the one below and I think Mr. M said this isn't a correct sentence and I want to know why. THANK YOU.

My dog, cat and crocodile are my three happinesses. (Is this not correct as a sentence??)

Hi, Let me add a brief comment on this. 'Happiness' is not really countable. However, if you say 'My wife and my son are my two happinesses', I can understand your meaning very well, and it's a rather nice meaning.

  • The English language is a very flexible tool for communication.

It's a bit hard to imagine a crocodile can be one of your happinesses... I think this pattern works within an acceptable choice...

(crocodiles are out, I'm afraid!)

Thank you for your advice. Sometimes the need/zeal to learn blinds a person to some other important concerns, which can be not very wise.
