Why is it correct?

After everything I have been through instead of I had been or I was. I've heard so many people saying this sentence but from what I know , when we use after or before we shouldn't use Present Perfect or at least is not recommended doing so.

"Have/has/had been through" are all correct, though they would occur in different contexts. "Was through" doesn't have the same meaning.

Should I use “after everything I have been through” instead of “... I had been through” or “... I was through?” I've heard so
