Why is "information about" a collocation?

Hello, If we argue the definition of 'information', the "information abot" should not become a collocation.We know "information" = something which gives knowlege into which news / facts are formed.So, "information" might colocate with "concerning" / "with regard to" / "in connection with" but "about" does not. for "about" = on the subject of .
