Why in some pattern gerund can not be onject
Hi, when I study about structures, I found something weird.
ex) I like reading : in this case, structure is S + V + O (reading)
ex) I avoid reading : but in this case, structure is S + V (avoid reading), not object.
someone told me this is because it is the pattern (verb + ing).
My concern is why in ex2, it can not be an object,
and why the pattern (verb + ing) is needed even though we can use the structure(S + V + O)
