I'm 20 years old I have been live in u.s. a year and a half and still I suffering because my poor English . it is made me down . sometimes I would quit and give up and come back to Iraq and then to Isis and make them get off my head and then mark on my head / don't tech him, he stupid might be got an infection from his stupidity / and then I can rest in peace . I swear I hate myself because the English . I get upset when I see my friend who they are have lived in u.s less  than I and they speak English very well  . please help me . is there any way to improve my English . I did all methods   . listen to music , watch movies . talking with people , even I taking with myself but nothing change . I want to go to college and get the better job but problem my English . I don't know what happen to me . why I'm extremely stupid .and I have a brain like a monkey . why . all people who they I know him in college . just me . working in cart pusher  in Walmart without any purpose .

I have also met quite a few Britons and Americans who think that people who learn foreign languages easily are intelligent. That just isn't true. What is true is that some people do have a flair for languages while some others may find it very difficult to learn a foreign language. However, that has little to do with intelligence. The ease of learning a language results from a special talent, but people with that talent aren't necessarily very intelligent.

A good friend of mine who probably has a higher IQ than I has never learnt to pronounce English well. In fact, his English is often unintelligible because he mispronounces many words so badly. On the other hand, his younger brother's English sounds pretty good even though this man just barely graduated from high school.

There are other special talents and skills. Some people are very musical. I have never met anyone who considered such a person intelligent. If you lack a flair for languages, there isn't much you can do to increase your linguistic aptitude. Hard work will help, of course, but learning may take time.

You may think your English is poor, but you have managed to make yourself understood in your post, even though it contains many errors. The fact is, you don't need to speak English very well to be understood. If you are polite people should usually be kind and helpful. You WILL get better if you keep on doing the things you say you are doing. In my own experience of learning other languages nothing is better than talking with native speakers, especially if you let them know they are welcome to correct you as you speak.
