Why help to do something not helping to do something

I was watching a tv program on national geographic channel where I found this subtitle " My friend Robin helps me brainstorm the project" (crocodile project)
My question is why simple present tense is used here not continuous like "My friend Robin is helping me brainstorm the project"?

I don't see how I can be much simpler. Perhaps another member will have more success.

Perhaps 'announce' confuses you? You said 'subtitle', which I take to me the title of a segment of the TV show? Or is the whole dialog subtitled with the English printed on the lower part of the screen for every word they say?
