hey I just want to ask if it is possible to say:
1)Why don't you try not to do....

or

2)Why don't you try not doing...

Well there's not a specific sentence. I was just doing a grammar excersise focused on verb+ -ing and to infinitive so I wanted to know if it would be correct to say this. I know there are two negatives in the sentence but anyway...

I dont think iether of those two sentences are grammatically correct. The problem I find with english students or those with english prospects is that they are not concise with how they word their sentences. for example, in your case i wouldnt say:

why dont you try not doing your homework

or even worse

why dont you try not to do your homework

instead, i would sa

I know that that there are many other and much easier ways of saying that, but i wanted to express... I'll try to explain it.. I'll give you an example: you have a headache I think that's because you're wearing your glasses and it makes your eyes sore and then you have a headache.. so I want to suggest that you put them off. could I say?: Why dont you try not wearing your glass
