Hi1. Why don't you close the door?2. Why you don't close the door?3. Why are you not closing the door?--- I understand that the second sentence is wrong because there is no inversion, and it's a question. What about 1 and 3?

1. Why don't you close the door? Correct.

2. Why you don't close the door? Incorrect, as you state below.

3. Why are you not closing the door? This sentence could be used but it would be more likely to be said if you had already asked someone to close the door and yet they still hadn't done it.

You: Why don't you close the door?
Person 2: OK.
You (5 minutes later): Why aren't you closing the door?
Personally I would use "Why haven't you closed the door?" but sentence 3 would be possible, if not perfect.
