Why doesn't this sentence have a semicolon?

"Independent Clauses could stand by themselves as discrete sentences, except that when they do stand by themselves, separated from other clauses, they're normally referred to simply as sentences, not clauses."

Just seems like too many commas.

Hi, It's fine. There is only one main clause, and everything else is subordinate. There is no place for a semi-colon..

It's fine. There is only one main clause, and everything else is subordinate. There is no place for a semi-colon..

If you think it is too long, you could reword it.
