0 I agree with Alc07. The first one "he wants to prove others wrong" sound like a habitual action. The second one "he wants to prove (that) the other are wrong" means in this particular case. Philip' other suggestion seems more like the second than the first, but you could possibly see it as habitual as well. 0-
