Why do you use" pull" _

You often use the verb " pull" for cars . For example, " By the time the Rodriguez's car pulled in the drive way..."

instead of saying " By the time the Rodriguez's car arrived/ stopped at the drive way

Or, sometimes police say " Pull over! ", instead of " Stop the car !"

How come do you use that verb "pull" on those sentences? Very old days, people used to use carriages and

they are pulled by horses.

Is it relevant to the expression " pull in " and " pull over?

Good point. You are probably right. By the way, you don't pull in the driveway, you pull into it.
