Imo, The Bible would imply a specific bible.
Whereas a bible would mean any version/translation of the Bible.
Why can't I simply say "Read Bible"
Like "Read Thirteen reasons why or Read Fifty shades of grey?"

Call it idiom, usage or style, articles have established themselves in every nook and cranny of English, and there is no arguing with them. By the way, the Constitution and the Bible do not take italics, but ordinary book titles do.
