Why do question of Pres. Ind. tense have no "Do" ?

Why do question have no "Do" ?

"How many people visit your website?"

The question of Pres. Ind. tense should have "do", isn't?

For ex:

"How many people DO visit your website?"

'Do' is used for 'yes-no' questions (Do you smoke? Don't you know him?) and for questions in which the '5W' word is the verb object (How many people do you know here? Where does he usually sit?).

I don't object to Mr M's rules in the least. There is also another way to solve the problem: if an interrogative word is the subject or part of the subject, do/does/did is not used.

What happened?

What did you see?

But sentence "How many people visit your website?" has a "how", one of "5W" word.

It's Pres. Ind. tense.

So why it hasn't "do"?

No, because there is no inversion of subject and verb when questioning the subject. Forms of do are only required with subject-verb inversion.
