Why different in structure?

Hi. Please help. I think both example sentences 1 and 2 are correct. If so, why is the name "John" is not made possessive in no. 2 when both sentences look the same in structure? Thank you in advance for your help.

1. His paper fan is bigger than John's.
2. His English ability is better than John.

Here, why is it incorrect, if it is so, to write "Christ Jesus'" (making the title "Christ" -- I think it's a title -- and the name "Jesus" possessive)? How about these? Which is correct? Thank you again in advance for you
