Why definite articles before these words in the Blble?
Hi. In Job 24:20 in the New International Version of the Bible, it is written:
20 The womb forgets them, the worm feasts on them; evil men are no longer remembered but are broken like a tree.
Why do they have the definite articles (the's) in front of the word "womb" and "worm"?
Could we interprete the use of the definite article "the" in front of the word "worm" to mean it as a species, as in "the dog is getting more popular as a pet these days." (I made this sentence about the dog up and not sure whether the dog is getting popular or not these days.)
Top answer
-- Yes, and 'the womb' as an organ of all female bodies.
