Why?

Hi everyone,
Please tell me why should we use "I'm asked" instead of "I'm being asked." in this sentence:
I keep listening to people's personal problems due to taking pity on them and I decided to help them as often as I'M BEING ASKED.
Thanks in advance.

I keep listening to people's personal problems due to taking pity on them and I decided to help them as long as I'M BEING ASKED to. As long as = a duration or period of time. This is fine for a progressive tense.
