Hi,

Because the official name of the country is not 'America', but 'The United States of America'.

If the people of India change their name to "The United States of India", then they will be the U.S.I.

America includes Canada, Mexico, and all the countries of Central and South America too, you know. Only a small part of America is the United States of America.
