Whose Possessive Pronoun

Hi,
When using the possessive pronoun "Whose" can I answer by using both a possessive adjective or possessive pronoun? For example:

Question: Whose car is this?

1st answer: It is my car.
2nd answer: It's mine.

Are both answers correct?

Yes, both are correct; however, the second answer ("mine") is a more direct answer to "whose?".
