Thank you very much,

I seem to have a problem here. I would like to 'test' a few more sentences, if you won't mind.

Are these wrong as well:

e. He was the man whom I wanted to hire and who refused to work with me..
f. He was the man whom I wanted to hire and refused to work with me..

azzAre these wrong as well:
You are not tying the ideas together in a reasonable manner. You need to make use of the proper conjunctions, of subordination, and the other tools of composition.

He was the man whom I wanted to hire but who refused to work with me..

Thank you very much again.

I see what you mean. The two parts don't seem to really fit together....

I have one more question:

In this sentence
He was the man whom I wanted to hire but who refused to work with me..

Can one take out the word 'who' ?

No, not at all. Then you have 'whom refused'—not possible.
