Whom I or whom did I?

Hi, everyone.

You can easily tell whom I added as my friend.

Could you tell me which one is correct and why?

Thanks!

The first one is correct. The second one is not, because this is not a question, so you can't use the auxiliary verb 'do'. The word order in the second clause of the second sentence is that of a question.
