Hi, To what "Whom" refer here? It's a bit confusing to understand ...

"The Clintons saw themselves as the party’s de facto First Family. As the patrons of two generations of Democratic politicians for whom they’d raised stacks of cash, providing aid and comfort on the path to prominence."

But this second sentence is not a sentence. Are you sure you've copied it correctly?
