Whole persona brand?

While I'm making a transcript, I heard some words like persona brand, whole persona and etc.. I'm wondering what they mean but I couldn't found them on dictionary.

And also I would like to ask if I made transcript correctly.

Here is the original dialogue

A: They like branded the hell out of it to like make as much more money as they could I guess.

B: Wasn't the whole persona brand(ed?) as well? (A: That’s yeah literally) ~ly clean cut people may(?) making persona brand of redneck and like sort of like pejorative like offensive like personalities that they took on like for reality TV show.

Thank you.

It is hard to catch every word because they are talking over each other, but I do not think the phrase "persona brand" is used. " and then I think "they were clean-cut people and they made the/their persona(s) like a redneck". "whole persona" simply means "entire persona".

Thanks a lot. Could you explain more about 'brand'? As a verb, it means 'If someone is branded as something bad, people think they are that thing'? or is it something about manufacturing?

To brand is to put your identifying mark on something, to claim it as "yours."

It comes from cattle ranching, where cowboys would mark the calves with a hot branding iron. Then they could mix their herd with other ranchers and everyone would know which animal was theirs.

As far as I can tell, "brand" is used here in the marketing sense of "to give a product a distinctive identity by means of characteristic design, packaging, etc" (

They are marked with the devil's brand, so everyone knows they are evil.

Having listened to it again, my feeling is that it is not quite this meaning of "branded" that is meant.

It is usually figurative rather than literal, but suggest the same kind of process of permanently marking in some way.
Modern ranchers don't brand anymore, they fix bright yellow tags to the ears.

I think it is more the "marketing" meaning in this case. Though the words are no doubt etymologically related, I think the connection to literal branding, or even the figurative sense of permanently marking, is a bit tenuous here.
