Who , whom or [...]

1)She is the most hardworking student ......... I have ever had.

A) who

B) whom

C) —

D) which

“The answer is: C) —“

Why can’t I say “who” or “whom”.

In my opinion, If “Do you know the student whom I know?” is a gramatically correct sentence then I can use “...the student whom I have ever had”. Please help.
