00the question isn't odd because of the link to the text, there isn't any clue with regard to the *** of the judge and 'she' just confuses me. Of course there enough female judges in Germany. No offense but your question is odd too:-) I'm kidding. Are there no female judges in Germany isn't a proper question, is it?0-

00I will try to clerify. Of course we have female judges in Germany but the book I am reading refers to the USA/UK. We don't have a grand jury and any further kind of juries. Maybe I am just a little old-fashioned with regard to the terms of the occupations:-)02br

00I remember my writing handbook suggest using "he" and "she" alternately to minimize gender bias. That said, I don't think this is as common as using plurals (e.g. judges, they, their) to get around the problem.0-
