Who greets first when being picked up, visiting sb?

You drive to pick somebody up and they get in your car or you visit somebody.

Who says good morning, evening first, following the usual American/British custom?

I think it's usually done differently in some countries in Europe.

Though many times it doesn't really matter, here in Spain we expect the one visiting/waiting to be picked up, the one 'outside' to greet first?

Maybe there's no particular or more frequent occurrence? Whoever happens to say it first with no particular expectation or convention in that respect?

Thanks.
