'...,who...' & '...come across...'

Hi all

Does this sound natural? Did I used the phrase 'come across' correctly here? What about '...,who...'?

Leah is Kate's sister, who is a celebrity.

When asked if she was envious of her sister's status, Leah said 'Well, no. I've seen what it's like behind the glamous curtin and Kate has made a lot of sacrifices as a celebrity. It's somthing she couldn't admit. She would come across as a whinger in some people's eyes.'

Thank you

Thanks for replying MM.

I miss the spell check function we used to have. Emotion: smile

Could I say 'come off' instead of 'com

Yes, you could use 'come off', I think, but 'come over' is a more likely synonym, to my mind.

Let me suggest that dependence on a spell checker is a habit as addictive as drugs. Freedom from the irons that bind us does not come easily. You must always be in your toes.

Thanks for the follow-up MM.

Yea. I can relate what you said to my dependence on a calculator. I find myself using a calculator to compute simple arithmatic when before I could chunk it out mentally. I hope this disappearace of the spell checker will force me to spell properly.
