01font00I am writing because I would like to apply for the Erasmus students mobility programme. My preferred destination to do my studies abroad is Ireland and I would like to go there in the 5th semester which is the winter semester 2007/08.02font02br

01font00My main motivations for applying for the Erasmus programme are that I would like to take the chance to live for about half a year in a different country, get to know another style of living, study together with people from different countries and improve my language skills in an easy way.02font02br

01font00Why I’ve chosen Ireland or Sligo as my preferred destination is that I would love to find out more about the Irish culture and society. Another reason for choosing Ireland is that the degree programme which is offered there is in English so that it will be possible for me to follow their lectures and take part in discussions with native students and maybe work with them on projects together. What I also like about the programme in Sligo is that they offer subjects like art and drama which I am really interested in. I am also looking forward in learning more about social work, psychology and the sociology of the Irish society. Basically these are some of the subjects I would choose at the Institute of Technology Sligo.02font02br

01font00Furthermore I would like to find out more about the chances for foreign social workers to get a job in Ireland. I also think the stay in Ireland is a good opportunity to socialise with people who can give you advice in finding a placement or a job there.02font02br

01font00A semester abroad will be another great experience for me and it will contribute to my personal and academic enrichment. I think I can learn a lot about myself when I am studying and living in a different country and I hope it will give me a new different perspective on my studies and the field of social work. 02font02br
