Who are in the classroom?

Normally we say "Who is in the classroom?"
But if I see two people in the classroom, can I ask "Who are in the classroom?"

That is not what a native speaker would say.

Who is in the classroom? (You don't know how many or their names.)

Who are those people (children) in the classroom? (You know that there are more than one person, but you don't know their names.)
