Can I say,

(a) Some of them swept the classrooms while the others / while others cleaned the school.

(b) Last Sunday, our school organised a cleanlinesss campaign to keep our school clean. Some of the pupils swept the floor while others cooperated to beautify the school (by painting the walls and gates). They worked hard-to hand to make it a success.
