Dear teachers,

1) In what circumstance should WHILE be followed by the simple past or the past progressive?


2) Are the following sentences correct? Do they express present or future?



a) While I go to the mall, you stay here!



b) While I'm shopping for a new car, you should be finding a place for us to park it.

3) Should I say:
a) I LIVED here until I was 10 years old.
b) I WAS LIVING here until I was 10 years old.
c) I HAD LIVED here until I was 10 years old.

In circumstances where the speaker sees the action as extended in time (a period), "while" would probably be followed by the progressive form: in circumstances where the speaker sees the action as a point-in-time, the simple form would probably follow. 2) Are the following sentences correct?
