, While Pujara made 119 as

Playing in his 50th Test, Kohli was unbeaten on 151, while Pujara made 119 as India reached 317 for four at the close after winning the toss in the first ever Test match in the port city of Visakhapatnam.

I read the above at Rediff.com.
Could someone please explain to me the uses of "while", "as" and "comma before while" here ?

"while" and "as" are conjunctions connecting statements about things that happened concurrently. The punctuation encourages the reader to group the ideas like this: X, [while Y as Z] Though here this doesn't seem to matter much to the overall meaning, and may not actually be the most logical choice.
