"Way finding" is not used. Try "finding the way", and then add what is finding the way, like "drivers finding their way".

"view sheds" baffles me. Are we maintaining the ability of drivers to view things, or maybe we are maintaining the ability of observers in a building (shed) to view the vehicles.

Yes, very odd.

A 'view shed' sounds like a shed whose purpose is to allow people nice views. It's an extremely strange phrase.
Possibly it is some form of technical jargon used by traffic-flow designers.
