C) Even though
D) As if
E) Unless

I am stuck between C and A. Aren't they the same?

Phrases like "while" and "even though" belong to a category called subordinating conjunctions, which we use to create adverb clauses. Adverb clauses are used to add information about "how," "when," "why," and other adverbial characteristics to a sentence. You've done this here:

Not much. Both answers still work, and I doubt that any native speakers follow that prescription. Any reputable dictionary includes the other definition of while:

5. even though; although: 'While she appreciated the honor, she could not accept the position.'

I agree - I would use "Even though" and "While" and "Although" interchangeably in that sentence.
